Our Proprietary Comminution System

 

Way back in January, Sepro entered Natural Resources Canada’s Crush It! Challenge. The mission (which we of course chose to accept) was to develop a new, clean technology solution that could transform how energy is used for crushing and grinding rocks in the mining industry. 

 

We partnered with industry experts like Erin Bobicki to develop a microwave-assisted comminution and sorting project for energy reduction in mineral processing. With this incredible system, we’ve seen energy savings of up to 70% in comminution circuits. 

 

In May, we found out that we were one of the top six finalists! The grand prize of a $5 million grant will be awarded in 2021, so we still have some work to do.
