LORETTO CORSETTI KNOWS HIS WAY AROUND AGGREGATE EQUIPMENT

Nov 28, 2019

If you haven’t heard of Loretto Corsetti, you must be new to the aggregates industry. He’s been hard at work for over 40 years designing, building, and delivering aggregate equipment to customers around the globe! With a wealth of experience, he founded Carminex in 1988, which later became Sepro Aggregates.

As Chief Draftsman, Loretto is focused on building strong relationships with his customers and mentoring junior employees. To get to know Loretto a little better, he took some time from his busy schedule to answer a few questions for us.

Hello Loretto! Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Sure! I was born in a small farming village south of Rome called Ripi. I attended the Istituto Tecnico Industriale Meccanico and graduated in 1964 with a general degree in preparation for a drafting career. A few years later, I arrived in Canada and found work as a Junior Mechanical Draftsman for Jeffrey Manufacturing.

How did you get your start in the aggregates industry?

After nine years at Jeffrey, I had become Chief Draftsman and decided I needed a new challenge. I moved from being an expert in conveyors into a role with a company that specialized in aggregates, more specifically, aggregate equipment. I’ve worked in the industry since 1977.

Could you share a bit about the changes you experienced as Carminex became Sepro Aggregates?

We experienced a certain amount of success with Carminex. But it became clear that we needed to expand in order to meet the demands of our market and clients. Sepro had the tools necessary for that to happen, and our alliance was a natural progression.

What makes Sepro different from other companies in the industry?

Sepro has close relationships with all of our clients. This ongoing support ensures success.

What is your official job title and what are your primary responsibilities?

I am Chief Draftsman for Sepro Aggregates. As such, I ensure that other draftsman work properly, teach the younger ones the correct formats and occasionally am called upon to go onsite to test and analyze the aggregate equipment being built.

What do you find most appealing about the work you’re currently doing?

I love the relationships I have built with my customers! Even though we design and build aggregate equipment, the relationships I get to make with clients is my favourite part of the job.

Do you have a favourite project you’ve worked on recently?

Nothing specific, I just love the process! I love each machine and how they contribute to the final system, from the crushing and blasting of the rocks, to creating a working masterpiece!

Thank you Loretto! One more question: in your spare time, what do you enjoy doing?

I love travelling with my wife and reading books. But my greatest joy is playing with my grandchildren!

Well said Loretto! And thanks again for taking the time to answer our questions. We’re truly happy you’re a part of the team here at Sepro!
