NORCAT Launches Sudburys First Entrepreneurship Certificate Program

Sep 11, 2013
NORCAT is excited to announce the launch of Entrepreneurship 101 – a free educational certificate program delivered by “been there, done that” entrepreneurs and designed to provide participants with relevant and practical information they need to start and grow their business.

Beginning on September 25th and continuing for approximately 30 weeks, the program will feature a mix of live web-stream lectures and in-person presentations every Wednesday from 6:00pm – 7:00pm.  For the live web-stream lectures, participants will have the option to view the lecture at the NORCAT Centre amongst their peers or at a location of their choice.  For the “Lived it” and the “Meet the Entrepreneurs” lectures, participants will attend interactive workshop sessions at the NORCAT Centre on Maley Drive in Sudbury, Ontario.

To deliver the program, NORCAT has partnered with the MaRS Discovery District, one of the world’s preeminent innovation centres, Sudbury’s Regional Business Centre, and multiple academic institutions in the Greater Sudbury Area.

“Entrepreneurship is a key driver of job and wealth creation in Canada.  Providing a grass-roots education program that focuses on the practical realities of starting and growing a business is an integral component of supporting our entrepreneurial community” cites Don Duval, NORCAT’s CEO.  “We are very excited for the would-be or existing entrepreneurs to learn, connect with like-minded peers, and ultimately grow their businesses”.

Upon completing the program, participants will receive a Certificate in Entrepreneurship and be eligible to compete in the NORCAT Upstart Competition for a $5,000 cash prize.
