Weir Group upgraded in latest CDP climate change scores

Dec 14, 2020

The Weir Group PLC, a global leader in premium mining technology, is pleased to announce it has been awarded an A- score by CDP, one of the world’s leading research groups focused on climate change research.

It means Weir has been recognised for its leadership in its commitment to best practice, particularly in governance, disclosure and emissions reduction initiatives.  Weir’s previous CDP score was B.

Commenting, Weir Group Chief Executive Jon Stanton said:

CDP’s annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is respected as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency.  It ranks companies on a scale of A to D- based on the comprehensiveness of disclosure, awareness and management of environmental risks and demonstration of best practices associated with environmental leadership, such as setting ambitious and meaningful targets.

Weir’s sustainability priorities, which were published in February 2020, include reducing the Group’s CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030, achieving zero-harm across its operations, delivering sector-leading employee engagement and creating sustainable solutions to help its customers’ achieve their net zero emissions targets.

Weir has a range of technologies that reduce energy, water and waste in mining operations including its market-leading Enduron® High Pressure Grinding Rolls that reduce energy consumption in crushing, screening and grinding, one of the most energy intensive mining processes, by up to 30%.
