Peat Moss Soil Machine
Case Study Outline:
Application: Production peat moss/ soil machine
Liner: Sani-Armour White
Bulk Material: Peat Moss and Soil Mixtures
Problem: High PH levels in soil mixture rusts out steel hopper. Moisture causes soil to stick to side walls.
Background:
Greenhouse facility uses soil machine daily to handle acidic peat moss and other soil mixtures.
Problem:
The high ph levels in the mixture eat through the steel hopper. Sticking of soil to side walls requires continual labour to clean off..
Solution:
Sani-Armour liners were engineered and fabricated to fit into existing steel hopper. All corners were seal-welded. Also additional UHMW liners were added underneath the chain conveyors
Result:
After the Soil machines were re-fitted with Sani-Armour liners all the build-up and sticking problems were eliminated. Chain conveyors worked smoothly reducing strain on drives. A noticeable additional benefit was the significant noise reduction. After 5 years of operation, the liners have shown no visible wear.
