Westcan Tel Ltd. Joins Valard Group of Companies

August 20, 2014 (Grande Prairie, Alta.) – Westcan Tel Ltd., an underground utility contractor based in Grande Prairie, has joined the Valard Group of Companies in an acquisition deal with Valard Construction. The Valard Group of Companies is now composed of 14 companies that offer expert solutions to utility and infrastructure projects across Canada.

Westcan Tel Ltd. specializes in communication infrastructure, water and sewer projects and general utility construction, and has recently completed many utility projects for Athabasca, Mayerthorpe, Sexsmith, Westlock, Fort Nelson, B.C. and Woodlands Cree First Nations. Westcan Tel Ltd. has expertise in directional drilling, plowing and trenching, excavating, and hydrovac excavation and transport.

Reporting to the crew foreman this position has minimal experience in Telecommunications/ Construction. 

Heavy Duty Equipment Technician

Valard is currently seeking a Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician (Mechanic) to maintain vehicles in our Timmins Location.

Hydrovac Swamper/Labourer Position

Reporting to the Collaborative Services Manager, the Hydrovac Swamper will be responsible for safe operation of the hydrovac unit as directed by the Valard Hydrovac Operator.

Experienced Hydrovac Operator

Reporting to the Collaborative Services Manager, the Hydrovac Operator will be responsible for safe operation and daily maintenance of the hydrovac units. 

Utility Person

Supporting a variety of job functions, the employee is responsible for performing the day to day manual tasks on the project. 

Journeymen Powerline Technician
  • Red Seal Distribution Lineman
  • Minimum 6 years distribution experience
  • Living in Toronto Area would be an asset
