Kal Tire delivers 24-hour onsite service and tire maintenance, tire supply, and a wealth of retread manufacturing experience to underground and on-surface customers.

As the world’s leading earthmover and mining tire speciality, Kal Tire has built a reputation for innovation, reliability and outstanding service.

A Canadian success story, Kal Tire was founded by Tom Foord in Vernon, B.C., in 1953. The company takes its name from the area’s Kalamalka Lake. Over the last 60 years, the company has grown to service more than 150 mine sites in 19 countries.

Kal Tire has more than 4,600 employees worldwide located in more than 360 retail locations, retread manufacturing facilities and mining tire service sites.

It is the only tire service provider capable of handling all the customer’s tire requirements on a global basis working with the customer to minimize tire operating costs and maximize productivity.

It is this level of service and experience that led a Northern Ontario gold mine to choose Kal Tire as its service provider. Before the contract even began, immediate service was required on three haul trucks.

With two weeks’ notice, Kal Tire mobilized a team of experienced tire technicians and the equipment necessary to get these vehicles up and running. Portable facilities developed by Kal Tire called Kal Kans, allow tire maintenance to begin immediately on greenfield sites and operate independently while a mine is building maintenance and workshop facilities.

Regardless of the location, Kal Tire focuses on safety. The safety of team members is paramount, and it expressed in their motto of “zero compromise on safety.” A team in the Alberta oil sands recently celebrated a LTI-free (lost time injury).

Customers are safe in the knowledge their tires are in the best hands possible.
