Hoyle Pond Mine (Porcupine)

The Hoyle Pond underground operation produced a total of 313,952 tonnes of ore at an average grade of 11.68 gpt in 2009. Ore sources included development and production stoping. A total of 5,246 meters of ore development and 6,765 meters of waste development were completed. Total gold production was 118,720 ounces, equal to 37% of the total PGM ounces produced. Hoyle Pond has produced in excess of 2.5M ounces of gold since production started in 1985.}
Mining focus will shift to the AFO and VAZ zones in 2011, providing nearly 29% and 19% of the overall ounces produced respectively. Ore production will continue to be driven by our narrow vein longhole mining method, contributing 58% of overall ore tonnes in the coming year. Jumbo Mechanized Cut and Fill (Jumbo MCF) and Paste Cute and Fill (PCF) will also provide 14% of total ore production respectively. The third phase of the internal #1 Winze is scheduled to be completed in early Q2, 2011.
Exploration efforts for 2011 will be concentrating on expanding our known reserves and resources below current mining levels as well as determining potential mining targets horizontally in the upper portions of the mine. A considerable effort will be made to continue exploring the VAZ system below 1290mL and to determine the true nature of the TVZ.
