Rose Quartz Pit (Aqua Rose Quarry)

A pit in a granite pegmatite located about north of Quadeville. The occurrence is made up of two mines: Beryl Pit Quadeville East Mine) (Beryl Pit), & the Quadeville West Mine (Rose Quartz Quarry).

The Rose Quartz Quarry was originally opened up for beryl by Renfrew Minerals Limited in 1935 but results proved to be disappointing. The company, however operated the deposit for feldspar & extracted 612 t in a two-year period. From 1948 until 1950, Canadian Beryllium Mines & Alloys Limited worked the deposit for beryl & feldspar. In the early 1970's, the mine was owned by McCoy the owner of a rock shop just west of Quadeville.

Rose Quartz is now being extracted. The openings, extending from west to east, consist of a T shaped cut in which rose quartz is exposed, an open cut 40 m by 24 m, & an open cut 6 m by 23 m, from which beryl is obtained. The Rose Quartz Quarry is a fee for collecting site but can only be visited by appointment.
