Want to learn more about the mining method block caving? Check this out! Block caving mining method is a large scale mining method that is used only in a few places around the world. Nearly 30 mines are using block caving as the main mining method (including panel caves and projects in a development stage). 26% of the total tonnage of mined ore from underground mines in the world is excavated by using block caving, where copper ore is the dominant ore. The illustration shows a simplified layout of block caving.
