Boulder Creek Amethyst Mines is located 45 minutes east of the City of Thunder Bay Ontario, in the scenic historic and world renowned Pearl amethyst belt. It is a family owned business operated by Chuck & Linda Anderson, who have been very active in prospecting and developing new properties for amature and seasoned rockhounds. We pride ourselves in providing a fun, educational, family safe environment. Bringing your children is encouraged. We have two dig your own sites, with more on the way.

 

These collecting sites are new and have provided some super specimens of amethyst, barite, calcite, galena, stromatolite, and more. No special digging equipment is needed, we supply everything for your digging pleasure. Personal safety equipment is recommended.

 

The mine is operated as a fee dig site so you pay for only what you keep. Beautiful scenery abounds the site, with panoramic views of lake Superior and its surroundings, great for shutter bugs.

 

The mines are open from May through October, and accessible by appointment only.
