IEM includes five government divisions. Each division has an important role in helping Manitoba's economy grow through innovation.
Administration and Finance provides executive management, planning and control of departmental policies and programs and co-ordinates support from other areas of government.
Energy Division manages provincial energy programs and economic development strategies involving hydroelectric resources and alternate energy development opportunities.
Science, Innovation and Business Development stimulates the economy by co-ordinating and supporting research, innovation, science and technology initiatives and infrastructure. It helps develop policy on innovation, research, technology and telecommunications. It also provides industrial technology services, health research funding and distance education system services.
Business Transformation and Technology develops and provides integrated internal and external government transformation of information and communications technologies that fulfill government program and service delivery needs.
Mineral and Petroleum Resources promotes wise management and sustainable development of Manitoba’s mineral and petroleum resources. It provides an authoritative inventory of resource potential, delivers incentive programs, administers mineral rights legislation, resolves disputes and oversees rehabilitation of exhausted and abandoned extraction sites.
