Pebble Partnership
Owners: Northern Dynasty Minerals - 50%, Anglo American - 50%,

The Pebble Partnership is a joint venture between Anglo American and Northern Dynasty Minerals to develop one of the world’s most significant copper deposits in Alaska, in the US.

Based in Anchorage, the 50:50 partnership, which was formed in July 2007, is currently exploring the potential to develop a globally significant copper deposit in the southwest of the state, known as the Pebble Project.

The site in the Bristol Bay region has been acknowledged as one of the largest concentrations of copper, gold and molybdenum in the world. With these resources, the Pebble Project has the potential to become a long-life, low operating cost mine – in keeping with Anglo American’s recognised growth strategy. The project is currently working towards the completion of a pre-feasibility study.

As a major global mining company with world-class operations on three continents, we have considerable experience collaborating with stakeholders. And we continue to work with our partner to develop the project in line with the international best practices on which we have built our reputation.

In pursuing development of the Pebble Project, the partnership has identified five core principles:
• Pebble will benefit Alaskans.
• Pebble will co-exist with healthy fish, wildlife and other natural resources.
• Pebble will apply the world’s best, most advanced science.
• Pebble will help build sustainable communities.
• At Pebble, we will listen before we act.
