Research & Development

Crone Geophysics & Exploration has along tradition of pioneering many geophysical technologies, although we are now best known as the ‘Pulse EM" experts. For more than 40 years Crone Geophysics has been at the leading edge of technology development to meet the needs of the geophysical marketplace. Our commitment can be seen through our early developments in Induced Polarization [IF] and through various Electromagnetic [EM] technologies, including the RADEM VLF, the Vertical Loop EM system, the OEM 'Shootback" system and through various and several world firsts within Time Domain EM technology including many versions of the “Pulse EM’ system for surface, borehole and underground application.

Crone Geophysics has a unique position in that we design, develop and manufacture equipment, not iust for sale but we are also users of our own equipment for contract geophysical surveys. This gives us a significant advantage as we get immediate feedback from our field crews and clients on what is needed to improve the equipment and techniques used and most importantly we work with our clients to bring new ideas to a practical usage in the field. This has led to many industry firsts for Crone Geophysics, including, the first commercially available Time Domain EM (TDEM) system, the first truly digital TDEM receiver, and the first to provide 3D TDEM borehole sun/eys.

Much of our R&D effort goes into finding ways to make our equipment rugged, reliable, and portable, while able to work in extremes of temperature and humidity. For borehole probes, we have the additional concems of high water pressure and long battery life, while keeping the probe diameter as small as possible. Crone Geophysics & Exploratio n prides itself on working with our clients to develop and integrate geophysical systems to meet the most challenging and ever changing exploration requirements. lf you have an application that you would like to discuss, please contact us.
