Mustavaaran Kaivos Oy
Mustavaaran Kaivos Oy is a private company, established in January 2011. The company owns the mineral rights to the Mustavaara vanadium/iron/titanium deposit in northeastern Finland. Our goal is to bring the Mustavaara mine into production in 2017 and to produce vanadium and iron metal, possibly also titanium. Remaining reserves in the existing open pit are ca. 100 million tonnes, sufficient for a mine life of 30 years. The deposit continues west of the open pit over a distance of 20 km with excellent potential for substantial additional reserves.
The estimated manpower requirement at the mine and concentrating plant is over 100 employees and more than 150 employees at the smelter. Main shareholders of the company are Akkerman Exploration B.V., Tamares Mining Group B.V., Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company and the Municipality of Taivalkoski.
