QT400 Hardened Plate
400 hardened plate has been phased out as the most widely used wear material in mining by 450-grade. Maintenance professionals are now looking past 450-grade, finding more significant value in premium weld overlays and castings. Often 400-grade plate will find itself at a higher cost than 450 due to low availability.
QT450 Hardened Plate
450 hardened wear plate is the most widely used wear plate material in Canadian mining. It has the same flexibility in customization and impact resistance as 400-grade with the added benefit of longer wear life. Today maintenance professionals who want to decrease their labour costs are looking beyond 450-grade, finding more significant value in premium weld overlays and castings.

QT500 Hardened Plate
500 hardened wear plate is a common upgrade from 450-grade wear plate. 500-grade wear plate offers higher resistance to abrasion with the trade-off of slightly reduced impact resistance in severe cases. Minimal cost difference makes 500 hardened plate an attractive upgrade from 450-grade.

QT550 Hardened Plate
The 550 hardened wear plate is similar to 500-grade in malleability but offers higher wear protection. The 550-grade plate is suitable for high abrasion and lower impact areas. CIS typically suggests the use of premium wear materials such as Eutectic weld overlay and Domite® if faced with situations requiring a 550-grade wear plate.
