Mining Master Smart MMS

The Mining Master Smart (MMS) is a state-of-the-art automation controller for the mining industry. It has been designed specifically for controlling plant and machinery underground. Typical applications involve the monitoring and control of belt conveyor systems, HP Pumps, ventilation systems, rails switch control and the control of cooling devices. The controller is in accordance with the protection standard "intrinsic safe ia", the highest level of protection certified by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). It can be operated even in the presence of an explosive atmosphere when connected to an "ia" circuit. It is in accordance with the IP67 (DIN EN 60529) and complies with ATEX category M1. The performance of the MMS is sufficient for controlling plants ranging from small to medium-size. A gateway allows the further increase in performance through use of multiple Mining Masters and thus the use in larger applications.

 

The MMS has the advantage of full software compatibility with the Mining Master controller and enables the use of existing programs. Fast data transfer over long distances takes place on an Ethernet network. Connections are made using fibre-optic cables, which permit communication over distances of up to 40km, or 25miles. The MMS comes in a standard version, that can be optinally configured to the specific requirements. A battery buffered intrinsically safe circuit enables the Mining Master Smart to be kept ready for operation regardless of  possible power fluctuations or power failures. The standard system is based on modern 32-bit Windows technology and incorporates all the features of the standard IEC 61131-3. With tools such as zoom, drag-and-drop, and dockable windows, it simplifies operation for the user. The visualisation framework PLC panel is supplied with every Mining Master Smart. It is in interactive communication with the control process and enables the display of application-specific information, such as operation or fault messages, and the configuration settings of the controller.
