Standard Bearing

The standard rotary table bearing is cast from alloy steel and mounted on our hardened AISI type 52100 steel bearings which maintain an excellent high load bearing capacity as a result of our thorough hardening procedure. The bearings, after heat treating, maintain a hardness controlled within the 60-67 hrc range, a tensile strength of 350,000 psi and a yield strength of 295,000 psi. The standard model bearing inner sleeve is cast from 1045 grade steel, maintains a Rockwell 78 B hardness factor with a tensile strength of 80,000 psi and a yield of 55,000 psi. The standard model is best suited for drills which operate with steel sizes below 8″ OD. MTI recommends that all larger sizes use the “X” or “HD” models.

 

“X” Series Bearing

The “X” series bearing is cast and manufactured in accordance with the same manufacturing procedures as the standard MTI bearing. However, the inner sleeve of the “X” has been heat-treated to a Rockwell hardness of 60ºC with a case depth of .060 in order to increase the wear and service life of the inner bushing. The bearing load capabilities of the “X” are the same as the standard model. MTI recommends that all drills which operate with steel sizes between 8″ OD and 10-3/4 OD use the “X” series bearing. The “X” can be manufactured with an extended sleeve for more support during angle drilling operations.
