Catch Basin Sediment Trap

When installed and maintained properly, the CBST removes silt and particulate matter from runoff water, preventing the fouling of the stormwater system and protecting the downstream aquatic environments from siltation. The CBST is an economical and effective method to protect you from costly cleanup work. The potential liability for downstream environmental damage makes the CBST an obvious choice for construction and earthwork projects.

Layfield produces the CBST in standard sizes (please see the properties table) but custom sizes are also available. The body of Layfield's CBST is constructed from 8 oz/sy nonwoven geotextile. The standard design includes a cylindrical filter area which extends into the catch basin, and a flat apron portion. The apron sits between the grate and the catch basin edge and is supported by a wire frame which adjusts to fit most standard catch basins. Layfield's CBST design includes a high strength lifting strap, and relief overflow slots at the top of the cylindrical filter section. The relief slots allow water to escape into the catch basin if the CBST has been filled with silt.

Layfield's CBST is an effective tool in your efforts to meet environmental legislation. The CBST also prevents costly clean up costs caused by siltation of the storm water system. These types of devices have been approved as Best Management Practices (BMPs) in much of the US.
