Heat Transfer Compounds

Thermon Heat Transfer Compounds (cement) provide an efficient thermal connection between the tracer and the process equipment. By eliminating the air voids, heat is directed into the pipe or tank wall through conduction rather than convection. A single tracer utilizing Thermon’s heat transfer compound has the equivalent performance of three to five bare tracers.

T-802 is a two-part low to medium temperature resin-based heat transfer compound for use in moist and corrosive environments. Thermon’s heat transfer compounds provide an efficient thermal connection between the tracer and the process equipment. By eliminating the air voids that would ordinarily exist, heat is directed into the pipe wall primarily through conduction rather than convection and radiation. A single tracer utilizing Thermon’s heat transfer compound has the equivalent performance of three to five air convection (bare) tracers. T-802 is typically utilized for applications requiring relatively short curing times where steam is not currently available.

T-3
T-3 heat transfer compound now has higher temperature ratings than ever before while still creating an efficient thermal bond between a steam or electric heater and process pipes or equipment. A single “Thermonized ™”steam tracer utilizing Thermon’s heat transfer compound is more cost effective than a contoured clamp-on jacket and has the equivalent performance of three to five bare tracers.
The new and improved T-3 now boasts maximum exposure temperature ratings of 450°C (850°F). To minimize waste and speed installation, use Thermon’s ChannelTrace™ system featuring TFK channels. The ChannelTrace system provides protection prior to installation of thermal insulation and eliminates special curing procedure for the new and improved T-3 heat transfer compound.
NH nonhardening heat transfer compound is used where thermal expansion and contraction could break the bond of a hardened compound. Typically installed between plate-type heating coils or with systems that require periodic disassembly, NH remains pliable indefinitely, allowing the compound to expand and contract to meet the changing requirements for the application.
Thermon’s heat transfer compounds provide an efficient thermal connection between the external heating source and the process equipment. Thermon’s NH compound improves the overall heat transfer coefficient by a minimum factor of three. By eliminating the air voids that would ordinarily exist, heat is directed into the surface area primarily through conduction rather than convection and radiation.
EFS-1 is a preformed flexible heat transfer compound designed for use between plate-type external heating/ cooling coils and process vessels. Thermon’s heat transfer compounds provide an efficient thermal connection between the coils and the process equipment. By eliminating the air voids that would ordinarily exist, heat is directed into the vessel wall primarily through conduction rather than convection and radiation.
As a graphite and resin-based heat transfer compound, EFS-1 is supplied in roll form for ease of installation. Typical applications require no additional surface preparation, allowing fast, clean and simple installation.
