Frame Options

Single tube frame. Open web truss frame. Wide-flange open web truss frame. Rigid frame. What do all these frames have in common? Well, all of them get considered when we start the process to uncover a building model that works for your unique project.

The steel framework is just one of the three elements that work together to create your ShelterSolution. Also, check out our sections on steel coatings and building profiles that round out the other two elements that go into the building blocks of your project.

If we’re talking free space to maneuver airplanes inside a hangar or added height to lift the box of a mining site haul-truck, an open web truss design can accomplish that. We have standard buildings that range from 30’ – 200’ wide, with the ability to custom build up to 300’ wide.

Looking for something a bit more traditional? You’ll find a lot of familiar features in our rigid frame design - easy to fully clad in steel, lower sloped roof, and a completely customizable profile.

By incorporating wide-flange steel in the chord and ensuring there is no exposed HSS (Hollow Structural Steel), this frame is very well suited for corrosive environments like fertilizer storage.

As your project gets more complex, you may need some added strength. An open web truss design can push the boundary on clear-span space. It also provides options to build up instead of out with custom sidewall heights.

Just a single tube of HSS (hollow structural section) steel is all it takes sometimes to get the job done. You’ll find this frame in less complex projects like hay storage in an agricultural setting or cart storage on a golf course – structures that need to keep things sheltered away from the elements.
