Modern drive technology has enhanced the performance of industrial motors. Decreased switching time of the electronics in Variable Frequency, Pulse Width Modulation or Vector drives, means specialized cables connecting the drive unit and the motor become critical to the performance of these systems. Nexans DriveRx® cable is specially constructed to meet the challenges of modern adjustable speed drive systems.

Contact wire is shaped wire that comes into contact with the pantograph of the train. It provides power from the catenary line to the train. Contact wire is a key part of the catenary line (with dropper and messenger wires).

Conductor: bare, annealed compressed copper conforming to ASTM B3 and Class B stranded in accordance with ASTM B8.
Conductor Shield: extruded semi-conducting cross-linked polyethylene.
Insulation: black cross-linked polyethylene.

One to four compact ACM aluminum conductors with low temperature, sunlight resistant (black and colours) EXELENE® cross-linked polyethylene insulation (RW90 XLPE) and bare aluminum bonding wire in multi-conductor cables. Single conductor cables have aluminum concentric bonding wires. Conductor assembly is wrapped and enclosed in an interlocked aluminum armour with an overall low acid gas and low flame spread, sunlight resistant PVC jacket (LAG/LFS) with FT4 and AG14 rating.
