O’Brien offers one of North America’s largest ranges of jib cranes. A technical data book of standard jib crane solutions from up to 40,000lbs capacity is available on request. Specially engineered jib cranes are produced in capacities up to 80,000lbs.
A jib crane improves material handling efficiency and increases work flow production, so choosing the right one could be difficult. In order to choose the right jib crane, you must define what you need listed below for your application.
Capacity
The maximum weight of your application should not match or exceed the weight of your crane. When defining your capacity rating you must account for:
• +15% for the weight of the hoist and trolley
• +15% for the deflection of hoist and trolley
• +25% capacity allowance for impact
Degree of Rotation
Free standing jib cranes offer up to 360° rotation and wall mounted types offer up to 180° rotation.
Outreach Range
The distance from the boom tip to the hook, which will also define the working area needed.
Crane Height
The height of the overall crane including attachments such as electrical entries.
Under Boom Height
Distance from the floor to the underside of the boom, which will determine the type of hoist required.
Installation
Location will dictate the type of jib crane needed as free standing cranes require concrete foundations which sometimes costs more than the jib crane.
