NETPORT IS
Northern Light Technologies’ NetPort IS is the central component of the 802.11 underground Wi-Fi network.  First deployed in an active coal mine back in 2007, it has been in steady production ever since.  The 802.11a/b/g radio and 32-bit MIPS processor run a linux kernel, making the command-line configuration of the product familiar to system administrators.  Featuring internal battery backup, providing more than 24 hours of intrinsically safe operation when the external power supply is lost, it also supports two optic interfaces that can be fitted with single-mode or multi-mode transceivers, forming a VLAN layer 2 bridge between the network interfaces.

• Two 50Ω N-Type antenna connectors
• 20dBm maximum transmit power
• -95dBm minimum receive sensitivity
• 802.11e QoS
• 802.11i Security
• 802.1.d Spanning Tree
• Management via web interface, SSH, telnet or RS422 console
