Mathena Trip Tank

The Mathena™ trip tank keeps mud volume constant so drilling can be, too, while accurately gauging volume and automatically compensating for mud level changes.
Installed under or near the flow line, the Mathena™ trip tank features a floored-top mud pit designed to accurately monitor fluid amounts displaced pulling a drill pipe from the well bore. A 20 horsepower motor drives the tough 3-inch by 4-inch centrifugal pump to ensure dependable action.
This trip tank keeps mud stirred and ready with the jet line system by filling with drilling fluid as the drill pipe is pulled from the hole. The fluid then pumps into the well bore and is measured to ensure the displacement volume equals the amount of pipe pulled. Going back into the hole, the tank action reverses for equally reliable displacement monitoring. The hole stays full. Hydrostatic pressure stays constant. The trip stays on track.
