Cathodic Protection Cable

Used for underground DC power supply feeder to cathodic protection systems for pipelines, storage tanks, and other buried or submerged structures.

Cathodic Protection Cable
Used for underground DC power supply feeder to cathodic protection systems for pipelines, storage tanks, and other buried or submerged structures.
These constructions have an excellent record of field use in the Alberta petroleum industry. Note that this cable is manufactured to a factory specification, which means that these cables are not CSA certified. If the application requires a CSA certified cable, then RWU90 cable should be considered.

Cable Construction

Conductors larger than 8 AWG are compact round stranded copper.  8 AWG conductors are compressed stranded copper,  in accordance with applicable CSA and ASTM standards.
Black insulation is high molecular weight, medium density polyethylene, in accordance with ASTM Specification D1248, Type II, Class C, Category 4, Grade J4 and E9.
Coloured insulation is high molecular weight, medium density polyethylene, in accordance with ASTM Specification D1248, Type II, Class D, Category 4, Grade J4 and E9.
For both black and colours, this insulation material offers mechanical toughness superior to that of low density polyethylene, with no compromise of dielectric strength.
Insulation colour is black for positive (anode) cables.  Colours are as specified for negative (cathode) cables.
Maximum conductor termperature rating is 75°C.
