Wire-Backed Silt Fencing

The reinforced Wire Back Silt Fence is held vertical with 5' steel T Posts that are sold separately. Roll sizes come 100' in length and have 48" wide fabric making it ideal for sites with ground irregularities.

Wire Backed Silt Fence will effectively protect storm water drainage systems from fouling with silt, and will protect you from environmental liability due to silt leaving your project site.
Wire-Backed Silt Fencing
Layfield's Wire Backed Silt Fence is a valuable tool in your efforts to meet environmental regulations. The current trend by legislators is to treat silt as a hazardous material, subject to the same controls as any other dangerous substance. This makes reliable and robust silt control systems such as Wire Backed Silt Fence a must for your project.

Wire Backed Silt Fence is constructed with a three-foot high wire scrim (0.9 m), covered with a woven polypropylene filter fabric. The galvanized steel scrim supports the fabric in an upright position, even under substantial loads of silt and water. The filter fabric is cut to a sufficient height to cover the wire. A fabric apron extending beyond the wire is also available, with a 6-inch apron being most common. The apron extends across the anchoring trench beneath the Silt Fence, and helps to anchor the fence and prevent undercutting. We can also provide metal T Posts and ties to secure the Wire Backed Silt Fence in position.
