The Coal Mountain Operation is a relatively low strip ratio open pit operation that primarily mines PCI coal from a highly folded and faulted deposit. The reserve estimate assumes a long term selling price of US$90/tonne for PCI coal at an exchange rate of C$1.10 per US$1.00.

The Antelope Mine is located in the southern end of the PRB, approximately 60 miles south of Gillette, Wyoming. The Colowyo Mine is the newest addition to the Western Fuels family. In September of 2011 Western Fuels-Colorado, LLC entered into an agreement with Rio Tinto Energy America to purchase the Colowyo Mine.

The Cordero Rojo Mine is located approximately 25 miles south of Gillette, Wyoming. The mine extracts thermal coal from the Wyodak Seam, which ranges from approximately 55 to 70 feet in thickness.

The Spring Creek Mine is located in Montana approximately 35 miles north of Sheridan, Wyoming. The mine extracts thermal coal from the Anderson-Dietz Seam, which averages approximately 80 feet in thickness.

Our Cardinal River Operations (CRO) include the Luscar and Cheviot mines, as defined by our regulatory permits. The Luscar mine dates back to 1969 when mining began at Cardinal River Coals Ltd.
