Known as “the Hub of the North,” Thompson is home to our Manitoba Operations, consisting of the Thompson and Birchtree Mines along with the Thompson Mill, Thompson Smelter and Thomson Refinery. The operations employ about 1,500 people and cover some 250 acres.
Transition Metals is a multi-commodity mineral exploration company that focuses on the discovery of ore deposits in Canada using the project-generator business model. The company has 30 highly prospective early stage properties encompassing roughly 2,000 km2 in Canada.
Operations at the mine and concentrator at Voisey's Bay began in 2005. During operations, the mine and concentrator employs about 450 people. Pending the results of an underground exploration program, development of an underground mine and expansion of the concentrator would begin around 2018.
