Alamos Gold Reports Significant Exploration Success at Island Gold Mine

By Kevin Vincent
Alamos Gold Inc. has announced spectacular new drilling results from its Island Gold Mine in the Abitibi region of Québec, highlighting high-grade gold intercepts across the main deposit and newly identified hanging wall and footwall structures.
“Our 2024 drilling program has delivered some of the most significant results in Island Gold’s history,” said John A. McCluskey, president and CEO. “With exceptional high-grade intercepts across multiple zones, we anticipate another year of growth in Mineral Reserves and Resources, marking the ninth consecutive year. Island Gold continues to establish itself as one of the highest-grade and fastest-growing deposits globally.”
Key Exploration Highlights
Main Zone Extensions
• Island West (C-Zone):
• 67.68 g/t Au over 3.61 m (16.07 g/t cut)
• 31.59 g/t Au over 4.18 m (31.59 g/t cut)
• Island East (E1E-Zone):
• 55.50 g/t Au over 3.87 m (45.31 g/t cut)
• 49.26 g/t Au over 2.07 m (49.26 g/t cut)
Hanging Wall and Footwall Discoveries
Significant high-grade intersections in these zones underline the potential for low-cost, near-mine development:
• Island West DN2 Zone:
• 16.34 g/t Au over 1.99 m
• 7.86 g/t Au over 4.17 m
• Island East E1D1 Zone:
• 63.51 g/t Au over 2.09 m (14.53 g/t cut)
• 26.38 g/t Au over 2.04 m
Footwall and Hanging Wall Expansions
Drilling has identified additional high-grade intersections, including:
• Footwall:
• 584.20 g/t Au over 6.80 m
• 129.76 g/t Au over 2.90 m
• Hanging Wall:
• 158.03 g/t Au over 2.00 m
• 46.75 g/t Au over 6.10 m
Island Gold East Conversion Success
Drilling has defined wider, higher-grade zones for conversion to Mineral Reserves:
• 31.42 g/t Au over 17.87 m
• 23.57 g/t Au over 19.34 m
Future Growth Potential
Alamos is focused on extending high-grade zones, expanding reserves, and continuing its Phase 3+ Expansion at Island Gold. The ongoing drilling success supports the mine’s potential for long-term growth and operational excellence.
