Bonterra Discovers Four New Gold Zones Near Bachelor Mill
By Kevin Vincent
Bonterra Resources Inc. has announced initial assay results from its 4,761-meter diamond drilling campaign at the 100%-owned Desmaraisville South Project. The campaign targeted new mineralized zones within 5 kilometers of Bonterra’s Bachelor Mill Complex, focusing on follow-up targets identified during the company’s extensive 2023 and 2024 exploration work.
“This year’s exploration efforts have led to the discovery of four new mineralized zones within 5 kilometers of our 100% owned Bachelor Mill Complex,” said Marc-André Pelletier, President and CEO. “These zones are near surface, exhibit extensive widths of mineralized material suitable for mining, and will be prioritized for future follow-up work. With significant potential for additional discoveries, we remain committed to actively exploring the property, leveraging the benefits of innovative technologies like VRIFY’s AI-assisted mineral discovery platform. Furthermore, we are excited to welcome Agnico Eagle as a partner following their acquisition of O3 Mining, and we look forward to collaborating on the Nelligan JV with our new partner.”
The drilling program, completed between August and November 2024, included 16 holes targeting newly interpreted gold-bearing structures. Initial highlights from the campaign include:
• 1.13 g/t Au over 16.0 m, including 2.02 g/t Au over 6.0 m (hole BRDS-24-063)
• 5.30 g/t Au over 1.4 m, including 18.39 g/t Au over 0.4 m (hole BRDS-24-060)
• 2.58 g/t Au over 6.0 m, including 4.50 g/t Au over 3.2 m (hole BRDS-24-065)
• 0.59 g/t Au over 22.3 m, including 3.17 g/t Au over 2.4 m (hole BRDS-24-066)
The new zones are located across four distinct areas based on geological reinterpretations, field mapping, and prior drilling. At the East Area, BRDS-24-060 intersected hydrothermal breccia with pyrite mineralization. To the south, holes BRDS-24-061 and BRDS-24-066 targeted fractured and sheared horizons with visible pyrite.
Drilling west of the Bachelor Lake Intrusion focused on extensions of a gold zone identified in 2023. Hole BRDS-24-063 successfully intersected a shear zone with abundant sericite, silicification, and pyrite, returning notable gold grades. BRDS-24-065, drilled as a bracket hole, intersected similar shear zones with strong alteration and gold mineralization.
The program included 2,500 core samples, with assay results pending for 682 samples. Bonterra’s ongoing efforts aim to expand known gold zones and identify new deposits to leverage the strategic advantage of the nearby Bachelor Mill Complex.
Bonterra’s Desmaraisville South Project is positioned within the Opawica-Guercheville deformation corridor, a region known for its strong potential to host gold deposits. The results highlight the growing resource potential within Bonterra’s 100%-owned assets and set the stage for further drilling and exploration in 2025.
