Canada Nickel Reports High-Grade Nickel Results at Bannockburn Property
By Kevin Vincent
Canada Nickel Company Inc. has announced promising assay results from drill hole BAN24-20 at its Bannockburn property, located 65 kilometres south of Timmins, Ontario. “We are very pleased that this second hole at Bannockburn intersected a well-mineralized interval grading 1.11% nickel across 10.1 metres,” said Mark Selby, CEO of Canada Nickel. “We look forward to continuing to unlock the higher-grade potential of this target and to testing other high-potential conductors identified at the Bannockburn property.”
Drill hole BAN24-20 intersected 15.7 metres of net-textured sulphides, including a standout interval of 4.4 metres grading 1.32% nickel. The mineralization, hosted in strongly serpentinized peridotite, confirms the high-grade potential of the Bannockburn property.
Key Assay Results
• BAN24-20:
• 10.1 metres grading 1.11% nickel, including a 4.4-metre interval at 1.32% nickel.
• Mineralization correlates with geophysical targets identified in prior borehole electromagnetic (BHEM) surveys.
• Mineralization Zones:
• The strongly mineralized peridotite suggests separate mineralized lenses, with massive sulphides in BAN24-18 found in volcanic rocks and sulphides in BAN24-20 located at the contact of mineralized ultramafics.
Bannockburn Property Overview
• Located near Canada Nickel’s Midlothian and Sothman properties, Bannockburn forms part of the company’s southern Timmins Nickel District exploration portfolio.
• Initial exploration focused on the large-tonnage, low-grade B-Zone. Current efforts target high-grade zones identified in recent geophysical surveys.
Next Steps
The company is continuing follow-up drilling with BAN24-21 to delineate the high-grade nickel horizons further. Ongoing BHEM surveys aim to define the extent of these zones and identify additional targets across the property.
