CME 2023 June 7 & 8 in Timmins, Ont

The Canadian Mining Expo gets underway tomorrow morning with the Indigenous Partnerships and Critical Minerals forum in the McIntyre Ballroom. It starts at 7:30 am with a breakfast meeting sponsored by The Quebec Chamber of Commerce. 

Indigenous Partnerships and Critical Minerals
The focus will be on the Quebec Lithium Industry. Recently Ford Motor signed a supply contract with Nemaska Lithium. The session will be in French. Bring your earbuds for English Translation. 

It continues at 10 a.m. with Nicole Charbonneau of the Wabun Council discussing how the Council negotiates mining agreements. Among the companies participating are Canada Nickel, Nobel Minerals, EV Nickel, and Magna Mining. George Pirie, Minister of Mines, will also be there, and representatives from Ontario's Geological Survey

Grand Opening
The Grand Opening takes place at 11 am at the Stage behind the Curling Arena. Speakers include Glenn Dredhart, President of CME; Minister George Pirie, Mayor Michelle Boileau, Timmins; Mayor Stacy Wight, Kirkland Lake; Mayor Doug Bender, Matheson, and Christy Marinig, Timmins Economic Development Corporation. Ceremonial drumming will be provided by the Timmins Native Friendship Centre.

Jackleg Competitions
At 11:30 am is the Mayor's and Celebrities Jackleg contest featuring Mayor Boileau of Timmins taking on challengers Mayor Doug Bender, Matheson, Mayor Stacy Wight, Kirkland Lake, Mayor Ryan Bignucolo, Chapleau, entries from Kiss FM, 92.1 Rock and Country 93.1  The novice jackleg takes place at 12 noon and at 3 pm the pro jackleg.

Mining Career Fair
The Mining Career Fair Explore your Options takes place on both June 7 and June 8th in the McIntyre Auditorium.

Miners Social
Oh yes at 6 pm at The Archie Dillon Sportsplex the Miners Social from 6 to 11 pm featuring Johnson's Creek.

Projects in the Pipeline -The Future of Gold Mining
On Thursday, June 8, the Forum on Projects in the Pipeline will be held in the McIntyre Ballroom, 2nd Floor, McIntyre Arena. The forum will feature a State of Mining address by George Pirie, Ontario Minister of Mines. Participating companies include: Gowest Gold, Greenstone Gold, McEwen Gold, Agnico Eagle, Galleon Gold, Argonaut Gold, IAMGOLD/Cote Gold and Wesdome.

There will also be daily demonstrations of the latest mining equipment and technology on the McIntyre grounds
