First Mining Achieves Key Regulatory Milestone for Springpole Gold Project
By Kevin Vincent
First Mining Gold Corp. has announced the receipt of a positive conformity determination from the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) for the Final Environmental Impact Statement (Final EIS) of its flagship Springpole Gold Project in northwestern Ontario. This milestone confirms that First Mining has satisfied the federal EIS guidelines and advances the project into the technical review phase without delay.
“First Mining is pleased to have the positive conformity determination confirmed by the IAAC,” said Dan Wilton, CEO of First Mining. “Having received the outcome within 30 days of the Final EIS submission demonstrates the diligence with which we have approached the assessment work and builds confidence in the regulatory process timelines for the Project. We are committed to continuing important work with Indigenous communities, and also with regulators, municipalities, businesses, and the public throughout the ongoing processes and all phases of the Project.”
Next Steps in the Regulatory Process
The Final EIS, submitted on November 4, 2024, now enters the technical review phase. During this stage, First Mining will collaborate with stakeholders, including regulators and Indigenous communities, to address questions and comments. This process is expected to conclude by Q4 2025.
