First Mining Reports Encouraging Drill Results at Springpole East Extension

First Mining Gold Corp. has announced initial drilling results from its 2024 East Extension diamond drilling program at the Springpole Gold Project in northwestern Ontario. The first drill hole, SP24-007, intersected significant gold and silver mineralization, highlighting the potential for resource growth near the proposed eastern pit wall.
Highlights from SP24-007 include:
• 0.83 g/t Au and 8.02 g/t Ag over 52.50 metres
• 0.61 g/t Au and 4.66 g/t Ag over 46.50 metres
• 6.46 g/t Au and 34.87 g/t Ag over 1.10 metres
“These results demonstrate the strong potential for resource growth within the existing pit shell,” said Dan Wilton, CEO of First Mining Gold. “With an established resource of 4.6 Moz gold and 24.3 Moz silver in the Indicated category, and a PFS showing a robust mine life, additional resource growth further solidifies Springpole as a cornerstone development asset in northwestern Ontario.”
Expanding the Resource Base
The Phase 1 drill program, which began in September 2024, has completed five holes totaling 2,293 metres, with assays pending for the remaining four. Drilling targeted a 150-metre strike area along the southeastern edge of the current resource, focusing on extending mineralization identified in updated 3D targeting models.
Geological Insights
Mineralization in SP24-007 occurs within silicified and sericitized-altered intermediate volcanic/breccia units and medium-grained trachyte. It is characterized by:
• 2-5% disseminated and fracture-controlled pyrite.
• Minor amounts of sphalerite, galena, chalcopyrite, and tellurides in quartz-carbonate veining.
• Higher grades associated with brecciated quartz-carbonate veins and up to 10% fine-grained pyrite.
These findings align with the established resource grades, validating the potential for meaningful resource expansion.
Strategic Importance of Springpole
Springpole Gold Project, with 4.6 Moz gold and 24.3 Moz silver in Indicated resources, is one of the largest undeveloped open-pit gold deposits in Canada. The submission of the final environmental impact statement and assessment underscores First Mining’s commitment to advancing this flagship project, which promises significant long-term benefits for the region.
As the Phase 1 program progresses, further assays are expected to provide additional clarity on the potential for expanding the resource base and enhancing the project’s overall value.
