IAMGOLD Announces Assay Results from 2024 Nelligan Drilling Program

IAMGOLD Corporation (“IAMGOLD” or the “Company”) has reported strong assay results from its 2024 drilling program at the Nelligan Project, confirming the extension of mineralized zones. The Company also provided an updated Mineral Resource estimate for the Monster Lake Project. Both projects are located in the Chibougamau region of central Quebec, Canada, and are 100% owned by IAMGOLD.
Nelligan Project Highlights:
The 2024 drilling program at Nelligan, which covered 17 diamond drill holes totalling 13,476.8 metres, demonstrated significant extensions of the mineralized zones. Key intersections from the program include:
• Zone 36:
• 46.1 metres at 1.08 g/t Au, including 6.3 metres at 2.60 g/t Au (NE-24-222)
• 18.8 metres at 3.26 g/t Au, including 4.0 metres at 8.05 g/t Au (NE-24-224)
• 48.8 metres at 1.48 g/t Au, including 7.5 metres at 2.90 g/t Au (NE-24-228)
• Renard Zone:
• 25.5 metres at 2.12 g/t Au, including 1.5 metres at 10.9 g/t Au (NE-24-224)
• 29.0 metres at 2.79 g/t Au, including 1.0 metre at 29.4 g/t Au (NE-24-228)
• Footwall Zone:
• 43.0 metres at 2.28 g/t Au, including 3.0 metres at 7.70 g/t Au (NE-24-223A)
• 11.9 metres at 5.70 g/t Au, including 1.5 metres at 31.2 g/t Au (NE-24-226B)
These results confirm the expansion of the deposit’s eastern down-plunge mineralized zones and underscore the growth potential at depth. “The increasing widths of the Footwall Zone are particularly encouraging, as they highlight the potential for deeper gold mineralization,” commented Marie-France Bugnon, VP Exploration for IAMGOLD.
Monster Lake Mineral Resource Update:
The updated Mineral Resource estimate for Monster Lake has refreshed the 2018 NI 43-101 technical report, adding 84,200 ounces of gold to the Indicated category. The new estimate includes:
• Indicated Resources: 239,000 tonnes at an average grade of 11.0 g/t Au for 84,200 ounces of gold.
• Inferred Resources: 1,053,000 tonnes at 14.4 g/t Au for 488,500 ounces of gold.
This update represents a 32% increase in Inferred resources and further demonstrates the high-grade nature of the Monster Lake deposit. “The high-grade quartz vein system at Monster Lake remains a key focus for future resource expansion,” said Bugnon.
CEO Commentary:
Renaud Adams, President and CEO of IAMGOLD, emphasized the Company’s ongoing exploration success: “While our recent achievements at Côté Gold and the Gosselin Zone have taken centre stage, our exploration teams have continued to deliver value with the expansion of Nelligan and Monster Lake. These results further cement Nelligan as a large-scale asset in a prime Canadian mining jurisdiction.”
Future Exploration Plans:
IAMGOLD plans to release an updated Mineral Resource estimate for Nelligan in early 2025, building on the current estimate of approximately 2 million Indicated ounces of gold and 4 million Inferred ounces. The mineralized system at Nelligan remains open at depth and along strike, presenting significant opportunities for continued growth.
Further exploration programs will continue to focus on high-priority targets across both the Nelligan and Monster Lake properties, as IAMGOLD seeks to unlock additional value from its Quebec-based assets.
