Kesselrun Resources sparks new exploration at Huronian Gold Project
Kesselrun Resources Ltd. has launched an ambitious new exploration phase on its wholly-owned Huronian Gold Project, breathing fresh life into one of Northwestern Ontario’s historic gold mining regions. Situated near the productive Moss Gold Project owned by Goldshore Resources, Huronian holds strategic potential with its proximity to significant gold resources. The Moss Project hosts a 1.23 million-ounce gold resource in the Indicated category and 4.92 million ounces in the Inferred category, adding value to the surrounding region.
Michael Thompson, P.Geo., President and CEO of Kesselrun, expressed optimism about the latest work at Huronian. “With the recent rise in gold prices and increased interest in the Shebandewan camp, we are thrilled to unlock the full potential of the Huronian Gold Project,” said Thompson. Exploration personnel and equipment have been deployed, focusing on bringing key target areas to a drill-ready status, with early mapping, sampling, and drone-based magnetics surveys already underway.
Expanding Beyond Historic Boundaries
The Huronian Mine Area remains a focal point of exploration efforts. The Kesselrun team is refining geological models here, aiming to better understand the historic and recently identified mineral zones, with the ultimate goal of expanding known zones and uncovering new ones for future drilling campaigns.
McKellar West: Extending the Gold Trend
Southwest of the Huronian trend lies McKellar West, an area with over 1,600 meters of untested strike potential. Recent UAV magnetics and overburden stripping operations focus on pinpointing the western edge of the McKellar zone. Last year’s drill results from Kesselrun’s westernmost hole, which intercepted 24 meters at 1.3 g/t gold, suggest promising continuity. The company is hopeful this extension could reveal untapped gold zones, further underscoring the project’s potential.
Moss South and Span Targets: Building on Goldshore’s Discoveries
Goldshore’s recent exploration has defined the Moss Gold trend as it edges closer to Kesselrun’s property, prompting Kesselrun to launch a UAV magnetics survey in Moss South for drill targeting and to conduct comprehensive mapping and sampling in the area. Similarly, Goldshore’s success in their West Span area, which borders Kesselrun’s Span North and Span South target areas, is driving Kesselrun’s prospecting teams into action. Field crews are already active, scoping Span North’s geological similarities to neighboring gold zones, while drone surveys at Span South seek to uncover southern strike extensions of mineralization.
Untapped Potential in Huronian North
Huronian North, an area with minimal historical exploration, is another promising frontier for Kesselrun. Detailed UAV magnetics are being deployed to identify structures akin to those at the Huronian Mine. Kesselrun’s exploration team sees substantial potential for new gold discoveries here, targeting structural anomalies that could host mineralized zones similar to those already mapped in the main Huronian Mine area.
About the Huronian Gold Project
Kesselrun’s Huronian Gold Project holds the historic Huronian Mine, Northwestern Ontario’s first operational gold mine. While current resources are historic estimates, the project boasts an estimated 44,592 ounces of gold at an average grade of 15.3 g/t in the indicated category and 501,377 ounces of gold at an average grade of 14.4 g/t in the inferred category, according to data by Minescape Exploration Inc. in 1998. Kesselrun emphasizes these figures as historic guidance, with further drilling required to confirm resources as current.
With new advancements in technology and heightened interest in the area, Kesselrun Resources is moving forward on all fronts. By combining advanced exploration with a focus on geologic continuity and historic zones, Kesselrun aims to further unlock the Huronian Gold Project’s untapped potential, positioning itself as a significant player in Ontario’s resurgent gold mining landscape.
