Kesselrun Secures $200K OJEP Grant for Huronian Gold Project Exploration
Kesselrun Resources Ltd. has been awarded up to $200,000 through the Ontario Government’s Junior Exploration Program (OJEP) to fund geological and geophysical surveys at its 100%-owned Huronian Gold Project in Northwestern Ontario.
“We are very pleased to have been selected as a recipient of OJEP funding in 2024,” said Michael Thompson, President and CEO of Kesselrun. “This funding is vital to supporting grass roots exploration of mineral projects throughout Ontario. Field work is winding up in the next week, and the results of the geological and geophysical surveys are expected to yield multiple targets for field follow-up and drill testing in 2025.”
Key Highlights of the Huronian Gold Project
• Historic Production: The Huronian Mine was Northwestern Ontario’s first gold mine, with a historic resource estimate of 44,592 oz Au at 15.3 g/t (Indicated) and 501,377 oz Au at 14.4 g/t (Inferred) (1).
• Proximity to Goldshore’s Moss Gold Project:
• Adjacent to Goldshore Resources’ property, which hosts an NI 43-101 compliant resource of 1.23M oz Au at 1.22 g/t (Indicated) and 4.92M oz Au at 1.09 g/t (Inferred) (2).
• Huronian shares the same lithological features, highlighting its exploration potential.
Ontario’s Junior Exploration Program (OJEP)
The funding will allow Kesselrun to recover 50% of eligible exploration expenditures, up to $200,000, for work carried out between April 1, 2024, and February 28, 2025. This initiative demonstrates Ontario’s commitment to fostering early-stage exploration.
George Pirie, Ontario’s Minister of Mines, remarked, “Supporting junior mining companies like Kesselrun Resources creates economic opportunities in northern and Indigenous communities, which will improve global competitiveness and demonstrates that Ontario’s mining sector is growing to meet demand.
Exploration Goals and Future Plans
• Survey Objectives:
• The geophysical and geological surveys aim to identify targets for field follow-up and drill testing in 2025.
• Verification of Historic Resources: Kesselrun plans to conduct further drilling to validate and upgrade the historic resource estimates to current standards.
