Kirkland Lake Discoveries Launches Drilling at KL West Property

By Kevin Vincent

Kirkland Lake Discoveries has commenced a 1,500-metre drill program at its Kirkland Lake Project, focusing on the KL West Property. The program targets two key areas: the historic Hargreaves Shaft and the Jo Zone Footwall, aiming to unlock the high-grade gold potential within this prolific gold camp.

Hargreaves Historical Shaft and Area

The Hargreaves Shaft, located near the Kirkland Lake Main Break, shares geological characteristics with structures hosting over 28 million ounces of gold from seven nearby mines. Originally developed in the 1920s and 1930s, the shaft reached a depth of 300 feet (91.4 metres), with historical records suggesting intersected mineralized veins but lacking substantiated assays.

The current drill program will test:

• Mineralized veins below the historic shaft.

• Contact zones between felsic tuff, feldspar porphyry, and conglomerates.

• Potential D2 fold axes and interpreted cross-cutting structures.

• The intersection of foliations at depth to investigate shear zone folding.

Jo Zone Footwall

The Jo Zone shear spans 650 metres in strike length with mineralization extending to a depth of 375 metres. Historical drilling highlights include:

GK21-050: Visible gold at 419.3 metres, yielding assays of 72.10 g/t Au in one half of the core and 561 g/t Au in the other half over 0.50 metres, marking the highest recorded grade on the Goodfish-Kirana Project.

The current program aims to further define high-grade intersections and expand mineralization within the Jo Zone shear system.

Strategic Land Position

Kirkland Lake Discoveries holds a district-scale land package of approximately 38,000 hectares, making it the largest landholder in the Kirkland Lake region. The company’s properties, located within the Abitibi Greenstone Belt, include second-order structures off the Larder Lake Cadillac Deformation Zone, which has long been associated with significant gold deposits.

Advancing Exploration

With the KL West program, Kirkland Lake Discoveries is advancing its position as a leading explorer in Ontario’s world-class Kirkland Lake Gold Camp, leveraging a rich history of gold production and exceptional geological potential.
