Lakeshore and Orbit Garant "Drilling for Cancer"

Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver and Orbit Garant have collaborated to form a team dedicated to helping in the fight against Cancer.

“Fighting Cancer 1 Meter at a Time” is the name of their campaign. For every meter drilled in our exploration program dollars will be set aside for the fight against cancer with our partners Orbit Garant also contributing to the cause. To date we have raised $10,000 to the cause and will pass this donation onto the Timmins and District Hospital’s Oncology Department.

The relationship developed between Lake Shore Gold and Orbit Garant displays the valuable partnership between our companies with a mutual understanding of local initiatives for our community.

Early in 2020, meetings began to understand the amount of exploration drilling required by LSG and partners Orbit Garant. In order to accommodate the additional drilling Orbit identified that a new drill was going to be needed which began the discussions of drilling for a cause. The group decided to paint the drill purple in order to identify our fight against cancer and developed the following slogan.

“The partnership between our contractors and stakeholders are essential to our business and our community,” said Marcel Cardinal, Director of Environment and Sustainability”.
