Metalex Ventures Ltd Drilling Paused at A5 site in Quebec Due to Forest Fire Hazards

Drilling has been paused while Quebec's fire hazard remains high and will recommence when it is safe to do so.  Personnel has safely been demobilized amid the evacuations in Northern Quebec. Block A5, is located south of Chibougamau, Quebec, and contains strong gold and scandium results.

“Our thoughts are with those affected by the forest fires and we give thanks to the first responders and emergency support services who are working to contain the situation,” Metalex Management said in a recently issued statement.

“Management looks forward to the continuation of the drill program and the results of five conductive anomalies previously found in the vicinity of the highly anomalous ilmenite and gold values on claim block A5.”

Drilling at A5 will test five conductive targets detected by an airborne electromagnetic survey.  These anomalies are a potential source of the highly anomalous ilmenite counts and gold values found down the ice in heavy mineral samples.

In addition to gold content, samples collected by Metalex from the A5 block contain the highest scandium results of all 8,700 heavy mineral samples the company has collected in Quebec.  Concentrates from these heavy mineral samples (the -60-mesh heavy non-magnetic fraction) had scandium contents ranging from 0.1ppm to 204ppm scandium as analyzed using INAA at Activation Laboratories.  The highest result was from sample RQ0754, located downstream of the electromagnetic anomalies being tested.

Scandium is a highly sought critical mineral needed in the production of aluminum and EV batteries.

According to Dean Bristow of Investor Intel scandium is aluminum’s best friend.

“Scandium is becoming a critical metal of growing importance in aluminum alloys for auto, commercial aircraft, military armor, and EV development, significantly reducing weight and manufacturing costs. It’s used as a hardener and strengthener of common aluminum alloys, which are also heat and corrosion-resistant. Its weight reduction applications in the automotive, aerospace, fuel cell, and defense sectors in turn help reduce the overall carbon footprint by making aircraft and vehicles lighter and more fuel-efficient with lower emissions. Because of these tremendous applications, demand is expected to grow considerably from the current 35 tonnes per annum of product availability to western markets to as high as 2,000 tonnes by 2040.”

Significant quantities of ilmenite were also found. Ilmenite is a slightly magnetic greyish-black substance that is the most important ore of titanium and the main source of titanium dioxide, which is used in paints, printing inks, fabrics, plastics, paper, sunscreen, food, and cosmetics.

Electron microprobe analysis of picked oxide grains from the Metalex samples was conducted by CF Mineral Research Ltd.  Their work established that ilmenite is contained in high concentrations within claim block A5 (see Map 1).

The technical information and results reported here have been reviewed by Mr. Chad Ulansky P.Geol., a Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101, who is responsible for the technical content of this release.  All results have passed the internal QA/QC procedures at the respective laboratories.

Metalex is led by Dr Charles Fipke the discoverer of the Ekati Diamond Mine in the NWT Chad Ulansky is the President and CEO. Ulansky worked with Fipke during the discovery of Ekati

In addition to the A5 project in Quebec, Metalex is also exploring diamonds south of Attawapiskat, Ontario at the Kyle Lake project. At the Kyle Lake project, Metalex has discovered several diamondiferous kimberlites. The most promising of these is the U2 Kimberlite. The region seems exceptionally fertile for diamond mineralization with commercial-grade kimberlites being found nearby (DeBeers’ Victor Diamond Mine)
