Prospect and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC ) 2023 Hosts One of the Largest Mining Conventions in the World March 5-8

The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada is holding its annual mining convention at the Toronto Convention Centre from March 5-8, 2033 drawing mining delegations from over 130 countries. 

PDAC  is renowned for  its mining educational programming, mining industry news and information, networking events and investment opportunities. It attracts up to 30,000 attendees annually.

Kicking Off PDAC 2023 at the Opening Ceremony were Alex Christopher, PDAC President; Julie Dabrusin, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources; Ed Sackaney, Knowledge and Wisdom Keeper and other special guests. Chrysta Freeland Deputy Prime Minister will be a PDAC Monday March 6 2023 in Toronto to meet with business leaders in the critical minerals sector at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada 2023 Convention, as part of pre-budget consultations.
 
Canada Day at PDAC Monday March 6 2023
 
Monday March 6 is Canada Day at PDAC. Marking the day will be a forum on investing in Critical Minerals. Invest in Canada, Natural Resources Canada, Global Affairs Canada, host a Canada Investment Forum from 1 pm to 4:30 pm. There will be a discussion on the minerals and metals that are central to the net-zero energy transition. The forum will focus on the need for new investment to achieve significant increases in global production needed to power the electric vehicle supply chain, including batteries and permanent magnets. The session will also provide updated information on advanced exploration and processing projects in critical minerals across Canada.
 
The event will feature opening remarks from Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Natural Resources followed by a panel discussion Canada’s Critical Minerals supply and its importance to the world. The panel will consist of:
-Lana Eagle, Lana Eagle Consulting and member of PDAC Board of Directors
- Pierre Gratton, President and CEO, Mining Association of Canada
-Paul Graves, President and CEO, Livent
-Nathalie Béchamp, Chief, Investor Services, Invest in Canada (Moderator).
 
Ontario Day Tuesday March 7, 2023
 
March 7, 2023 is tagged Ontario Day at convention. Ontario’s Critical Minerals Strategy will be a major focus. During the day, a series of presentations will focus on exploration and supply chain opportunities in critical minerals, current geoscience initiatives, and the development of a new Geology Ontario platform as well as business incentives and funding programs.

Following the presentations, join us for Building Ontario’s Critical Minerals Supply Chain, a discussion panel hosted by Ontario Minister of Mines Hon. George Pirie and moderated by Mohammed Ali of Agnico Eagle.

Moneta Gold Tower Project, Timmins, Ontario
On Wednesday March 8, 2023 Timmins-area gold exploration company Moneta Gold will take part in a session about exploration projects from around the world. Mary-Anne Hildebrandt of Moneta Gold Timmins address the session and update the attendees on the progress of their Tower Gold Project.

The Timmins area was featured in the session held on March 5, 2023 titled Negotiating agreements in early exploration: Best practice MOU's and EA's. The session featured a discussion of the Wabun Model and approach to company-community collaboration on exploration and mining projects has been recognized throughout Ontario, and across Canada. Wabun Council’s unique approach provides effective and organized support to First Nations communities who are engaging in negotiations and partnerships with exploration and mining companies in the Timmins area.

The session featured the perspectives of the Wabun Tribal Council’s Member Nations, junior mining companies and First Nations community members in the Timmins area who have worked jointly through the Wabun Model to negotiate and implement exploration-related agreements (EAs and MOUs).
