“We are thrilled to advance our hydrogen program with this cutting-edge proprietary monitoring technology and methodology,” said John Karagiannidis, CEO of Quebec Innovative Materials Corp. “This initiative reflects our dedication to harnessing innovative techniques to monitor and measure the flow of hydrogen while ensuring minimal environmental impact.”

Quebec Innovative Materials Corp. (QIMC) has announced the launch of winter monitoring activities to measure natural hydrogen gas flow rates in strategically identified hotspots within the St-Bruno-de-Guigues area of Témiscamingue, Québec. This program builds on the success of the company’s high-grade soil sampling results and recent geophysical analysis, which identified primary conduits and fault lines for natural hydrogen.

Monitoring Program Details

The initiative involves installing advanced monitoring probes in shallow drill holes, approximately 5 metres deep, at key sites identified as hydrogen hotspots. These probes will provide real-time gas flow data using non-invasive methods, enabling continuous monitoring and data logging.

Key program components include:

Integration of geophysical data and LiDAR analysis to pinpoint fault lines and conduits.

Deployment of additional probes in strategic locations based on ongoing analysis.

Real-time data collection to track flow variability and better understand subsurface hydrogen dynamics.

Advancing Renewable Hydrogen Exploration

The winter monitoring program is a critical milestone in QIMC’s strategy to position natural renewable hydrogen as a cornerstone of Québec’s clean energy transition. By combining advanced geophysics, soil sampling, and real-time monitoring, the company aims to map subsurface systems and identify zones with commercial hydrogen flow rates.

Commitment to Sustainable Innovation

QIMC’s initiative reflects its commitment to sustainable energy exploration, leveraging innovative techniques while maintaining environmental stewardship. This work aligns with Québec’s ambitious goals for clean energy development, contributing to the province’s leadership in renewable resources.
