Red Metal Expands Portfolio with New Hydrogen Claims in Ontario

Dec 3, 2024

By Kevin Vincent

Red Metal Resources Ltd. has executed a definitive agreement to acquire a 100% interest in three mineral claims packages in Ontario’s Larder Lake Mining District, near the Quebec border. The new claims, covering approximately 3,246 hectares, increase Red Metal’s portfolio to over 4,546 hectares across seven separate claim blocks, strategically positioned around Quebec Innovative Materials Corp.’s (QIMC) recent hydrogen-in-soil discovery.

“We have added a significant and highly prospective package of three additional claim blocks in Ontario to our existing mineral claims portfolio next to QIMC in Quebec,” said Caitlin Jeffs, President and CEO of Red Metal Resources. “Red Metal is actively planning an extensive exploration program to encompass its Quebec and Ontario claims, including directly next to QIMC’s recent hydrogen discovery. These new Ontario claims increase our exposure to this exciting discovery area and highlight the potential for new discoveries of hydrogen as well as base and precious metals as we continue to advance our Carrizal Copper/Gold property in Cordillera, Chile.”

The newly acquired Ontario claims share geological similarities with QIMC’s Saint-Bruno-de-Guigues area, where a recent hydrogen-in-soil anomaly of over 1,000 ppm was reported. This acquisition positions Red Metal to explore potential extensions of this emerging hydrogen discovery trend, which straddles the Quebec-Ontario border.

Exploration Strategy and Initial Plans

Red Metal is formulating an exploration program to evaluate its expanded portfolio, which includes:

Gas sampling from soil and underwater surveys in Timiskaming Lake to identify degassing zones associated with fault structures.

Geophysical surveys, including gravimetry and audiomagnetotellurism (AMT), to assess sedimentary rock thickness and locate graben-related faults.

Remote sensing gas surveys to identify additional hydrogen and helium exploration targets.

Infrastructure and Resource Potential

The Ontario claim blocks benefit from established infrastructure, including power and accessible roadways. Historical data from Firstbrook Township indicates occurrences of copper, lead, cobalt, silver, and kimberlite, further enhancing the region’s exploration appeal.

Significance of Geological Hydrogen

Geologic or white hydrogen is gaining attention as a clean, renewable, and abundant energy source. Its compatibility with existing infrastructure and carbon-free nature position it as a solution to meet global climate goals while addressing future energy needs.

Next Steps

Red Metal is reviewing regional geological data to identify additional acquisition opportunities while preparing for initial exploration. Detailed exploration plans and timelines will be announced as the project advances.

Red Metal’s growing portfolio, spanning Canada and Chile, underscores its commitment to clean energy and strategic minerals, with its recent acquisitions setting the stage for potential breakthroughs in hydrogen exploration.
