Red Metal Plans Phase 1 Work on Newly Acquired Quebec-Ontario Claims

Feb 20, 2025

Red Metal Resources has announced a Phase 1 work program and data compilation for its newly acquired 100% owned portfolio of mineral claims and claim applications. The package covers seven claim blocks, including 172 mineral claims spanning 4,546 hectares in the Saint-Bruno-de-Guigues area near the Quebec-Ontario border.

These claims lie north, northeast, and southwest of Quebec Innovative Materials Corp.'s recent hydrogen-in-soil discovery, which reported values exceeding 1,000 ppm in September 2024. Red Metal's land position also covers areas of similar geology extending into Ontario’s Larder Lake Mining District.

"We have established a significant claim package to the north, northeast, and southwest of QIMC’s discovery, with additional ground in Ontario," said Caitlin Jeffs, President and CEO. "We are actively planning a Phase 1 work program encompassing both Quebec and Ontario claims, highlighting potential for hydrogen, as well as base and precious metals. We’ll continue advancing our Carrizal copper-gold property in Chile, while focusing on new discoveries in Canada."

Phase 1 Work Program

Potential activities could include:

  1. Gas Sampling: Soil and underwater surveys in Timiskaming Lake to locate degassing zones associated with Timiskaming rift faults.

  2. Geophysical Surveys: Gravimetry and audiomagnetotellurism (AMT) to assess sedimentary rock thickness over the Archean basement. AMT data may help identify graben-related faults concealed by quaternary sediments.

  3. Remote Sensing: Regional remote sensing gas surveys to pinpoint specific hydrogen-helium targets.

Strategic Significance

Red Metal’s recent claims border QIMC on three sides and extend into Ontario’s Firstbrook Township, where there are documented occurrences of copper, lead, cobalt, silver, and kimberlite. The region is well-serviced by roads and power infrastructure.

Hydrogen, particularly geologic or ‘white hydrogen,’ represents a carbon-free, high-energy-density resource with compatibility for existing infrastructure—aligning with global climate strategies.

Red Metal continues to evaluate the potential for additional acquisitions in the area. The company’s diversified portfolio includes these new hydrogen-prospective claims and a copper-gold project in Chile’s Candelaria iron oxide copper-gold (IOCG) belt.
