Timmins back at PDAC

The City of Timmins officially marked its presence at the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) 2025 convention with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its dedicated booth, reinforcing its reputation as a premier mining jurisdiction. Mayor Michelle Boileau addressed industry leaders, suppliers, and stakeholders, highlighting the importance of Timmins’ presence at the world’s largest mineral exploration and mining convention.
"We're all very excited to actually have a booth this year," said Boileau to a group of onlookers and photo opportunity guests that included Mark Selby of Canada Nickel, Chief Jennifer Constant of Matagami First Nation, and Jordan Gregorini of NorPro Security. "The reason we're here with a physical presence was really based on the feedback that we heard from suppliers, from Timmins-based businesses and stakeholders. We were encouraged by the level of interest in ensuring that Timmins has a visible presence at this international conference."
Timmins, a region synonymous with mining excellence, boasts a deeply embedded mining ecosystem with more than 150 suppliers supporting operations across northern Ontario. The city’s rich geological endowment, coupled with a robust service and supply network, continues to position Timmins as a key player in the global mining sector.
"Timmins is one of the richest areas of the world when it comes to mineral exploration and resource potential," Boileau emphasized. "With an ecosystem like the one we have, we know that we can continue to thrive for a long time."
The city’s presence at PDAC 2025 is a direct response to industry demand, with the Timmins Economic Development Team spearheading efforts to create meaningful engagement opportunities for businesses. The city is also hosting the highly anticipated Timmins Reception, a strategic networking event designed to facilitate new partnerships and strengthen existing ones.
"With all of your support, we were able to make this happen, alongside some of the other events we have planned in the next few days, such as the Timmins Reception," Boileau noted. "We hope this will be really beneficial for everyone involved."
In a move that underscores its commitment to fostering industry connections, the City of Timmins is offering its booth as a meeting space for stakeholders looking to engage with potential partners.
"If you want to hold a meeting with someone you met at the convention, just come on down," Boileau said. "We’re so happy to have you here, and we want to make sure you have every opportunity to make valuable connections."
The mayor also took the opportunity to acknowledge the hard work of the Timmins Economic Development Team, which played a pivotal role in orchestrating the city's involvement at PDAC.
"The work you’ve done over the past few months is exceptional," Boileau said. "We have a lot to be proud of."
Timmins' participation at PDAC 2025 underscores its ongoing efforts to showcase its mining prowess and strengthen its position as a global mining hub. As the convention unfolds, all eyes will be on how Timmins leverages this opportunity to drive investment and innovation in the sector.
