Transition Metals Begins Drilling at Saturday Night Project, NW of Thunder Bay

By Kevin Vincent
Transition Metals Corp. has commenced its 2025 drilling program at the Saturday Night Project, located 25 kilometres north of Thunder Bay, Ontario. The program, announced on January 2, will involve two drill holes totaling approximately 1,500 metres and is partially funded through a $200,000 matching grant under the Ontario Junior Exploration Program (OJEP). The initiative aims to test the basal contact of the Saturday Night layered intrusion, previously identified as mineralized.
“The Saturday Night Project is interpreted to be an early Mid-Continental Rift intrusion, akin to notable deposits such as the Eagle Mine in Michigan, the Tamarack project in Minnesota, and Thunder Bay North in Ontario,” said Scott McLean, CEO of Transition Metals. “This program will allow us to evaluate the extent of mineralization and assess the broader potential of the intrusion.”
Advancing Exploration
The Saturday Night Project builds upon promising results from a 2016 drill hole, which intersected 6.25 metres averaging 1.07 g/t platinum group metals (PGMs), including 0.30 metres grading 4.0 g/t PGM and 0.56% copper near the base of a >200-metre-thick intrusive sequence. The current drilling program aims to explore extensions of this mineralization and further define the prospectivity of the intrusion.
About the Saturday Night Project
Comprising 63 staked mining claims in Fowler Township, the Saturday Night Project is located within the Robinson Superior Treaty area and benefits from year-round road access and proximity to infrastructure. Exploration to date has confirmed a magnetic anomaly linked to a mafic-ultramafic intrusion originating from the Proterozoic era, associated with the Mid-Continental Rift (MCR).
The MCR, a 2,000-kilometre-long geological feature formed 1.1 billion years ago, is renowned for hosting mafic to ultramafic rocks containing significant PGM mineralization. Transition Metals has a history of success in the region, including the discovery of the Sunday Lake deposit in partnership with Implats Platinum in 2013.
The Saturday Night Project remains in early exploration stages, with ongoing assessments to determine its potential to host economically viable PGM mineralization. The property is subject to a 1.0% Net Smelter Return royalty.
Transition Metals continues to explore the district’s potential, with this program marking another step in unlocking the value of Ontario’s vast geological resources.
