Webequie and Marten Falls weigh in on federal election with support for Ring of Fire roads
Webequie First Nation and Marten Falls First Nation are welcoming Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s recent commitment to invest $1 billion in road infrastructure for the Ring of Fire region. This funding, along with improvements to the federal permitting process, aligns with years of advocacy by both First Nations to develop sustainable infrastructure that will connect their communities, unlock vital resources, and create long-term economic opportunities.
The investment also introduces a new and significant step toward economic reconciliation, with a promise to share tax revenues at the federal level—an approach that recognizes the economic leadership of Indigenous communities.
