West Red Lake Gold Identifies High-Priority Targets at Madsen Property

West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. has announced positive results from its 2024 regional surface mapping and geochemical sampling program at its 100%-owned Madsen Property in the Red Lake Gold District of Northwestern Ontario. The findings have reinforced the company’s belief in the untapped exploration potential within the Confederation Assemblage, an area largely untested until now.
Key Findings from the 2024 Surface Exploration Program
West Red Lake Gold’s 1,460 till samples, 42 channel samples, and 69 lithologic samples have helped define six key anomalous zones with geochemical signatures analogous to Madsen-style alteration and mineralization.
The most compelling discovery is the North Shore anomaly, a target demonstrating high prospectivity based on 2024 drilling results and its proximity to the Russet Lake Ultramafic (RLUMAF). Notably, the strongest portion of this anomaly has never been drilled, making it a top exploration priority for 2025.
The company’s mapping program has also enhanced geologic resolution within the Confederation Assemblage, a rock unit hosting significant gold deposits throughout the Red Lake District, including Kinross Gold’s Great Bear Project, located 24 km southeast of Madsen.
Exploration Insights and Forward Strategy
West Red Lake Gold’s Vice President of Exploration, Will Robinson, expressed enthusiasm over the exploration findings:
“We are quite pleased with the results of our first-ever regional surface exploration program across the Madsen property. The program was focused on the underexplored Confederation Assemblage and was successful in delineating a number of high-caliber geochemical anomalies that will warrant follow-up exploration work and possibly drilling in 2025.”
Robinson further emphasized the discovery potential within the Confederation rocks:
“The grade and tenor of the surface anomalies defined within the Confederation rocks and their spatial association with the underlying geology is very encouraging and further reinforces our thesis that this mostly overlooked part of the property still presents excellent potential for discovery.”
Additionally, the till anomaly at the North Shore target, located within Balmer Assemblage rocks along the eastern margin of RLUMAF, aligns with the company’s exploration model, positioning it as a drill-ready target for 2025.
Unlocking the Potential of Madsen’s Confederation Rocks
West Red Lake Gold’s regional surface exploration program is the first of its kind at Madsen to systematically assess the Confederation Assemblage. The findings suggest that this underexplored package of rocks could contain significant new gold mineralization, much like other notable Red Lake discoveries.
As the company finalizes its 2025 drill campaign, the North Shore anomaly and other newly identified targets will take center stage. With a strengthened geological model and data-backed high-priority targets, West Red Lake Gold is well-positioned to unlock further value at Madsen.
