West Red Lake Gold Reports High-Grade Drill Results at Madsen Mine

Jan 21, 2025

Definition drilling at the Madsen Mine’s McVeigh Zone has revealed broad, high-grade gold intercepts that will support the planned production restart in 2025.

“As the site operational team advances test mining and stockpiles the bulk sample, the two underground drills continue to turn and continue to intercept broad zones of high-grade gold mineralization,” said Shane Williams, President & CEO of West Red Lake Gold Mines. “The McVeigh Zone is a shallow and easily accessible portion of the Madsen deposit and will be a key focus area during early phases of mining. Tight spaced drilling, combined with our enhanced geologic model, will enable the engineering team to produce a robust and high-confidence mine plan that minimizes dilution during mining.”

Recent results from the McVeigh Zone, which hosts an Indicated mineral resource of 79,800 oz grading 6.4 g/t Au and an Inferred resource of 14,300 oz grading 6.9 g/t Au, include the following highlights:

Hole MM24D-02-4090-010: 3.85m @ 45.70 g/t Au from 14.00m, including 0.85m @ 127.27 g/t Au; and 1.55m @ 44.89 g/t Au from 22.45m.

Hole MM24D-02-4090-015: 3m @ 50.99 g/t Au from 14m, including 1m @ 141.53 g/t Au.

Hole MM24D-02-4090-006: 16m @ 8.75 g/t Au from 20m, including:

• 1m @ 77.92 g/t Au from 21m,

• 1m @ 15.63 g/t Au from 24m,

• 1.5m @ 14.68 g/t Au from 30m, and

• 2m @ 11.16 g/t Au from 33m.

Hole MM24D-02-4090-004: 3m @ 33.66 g/t Au from 18m, including 1m @ 97.16 g/t Au.

Hole MM24D-02-4090-020: 4m @ 13.22 g/t Au from 15m, including 1m @ 23.68 g/t Au and 1m @ 22.78 g/t Au, with eight visible gold specks.

The McVeigh Zone is currently accessed through the Madsen Mine West Portal, with future access planned through the East Portal via the Connection Drift. Drilling in this area has targeted structurally controlled gold mineralization, which is hosted within broad alteration and deformation corridors that have been reactivated during gold deposition and subsequent metamorphism.

The Austin, South Austin, North Austin, and McVeigh Zones collectively form the backbone of the Madsen deposit. These zones are folded, transposed, and influenced by high-temperature metamorphic events, resulting in a skarn-like alteration assemblage of diopside, amphibole, quartz, and biotite.

Drilling has confirmed the continuity of high-grade gold mineralization, which remains open at depth and along strike. Current efforts are focused on defining near-term mining inventory while growing the overall resource base, with plans to continue this strategy throughout 2025.

With a rich history and significant recent advancements, the Madsen Mine remains a cornerstone asset for West Red Lake Gold Mines as it prepares for production in 2025.
